A chronic disease management (formerly known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan) plan is a referral given by your general practictioner (GP) and enables the eligible person to access up to five (5) allied health sessions per calendar year with a rebate of $52.95 per session. The type of allied health professional and number of sessions is at the discretion of your GP.
Under the Helping Children with Autism program, a child can be referred by a consultant paediatrician or psychiatrist for up to four diagnostic / assessment services to assist the referring practitioner with diagnosis or to contribute to a child’s treatment and management plan (for a child under 13 years of age). They may also be eligible for up to twenty treatment services with an appropriate allied health professional (for a child under 15 years of age, providing a treatment and management plan is in place before their 13th birthday).
These are the total number of services available to each child through the Helping Children with Autism program – not an annual entitlement. Each session has a rebate amount of $70.65 per sessions.
If you are paying for assessment or therapy services privately you may be eligible for a rebate from your Private Health fund, depending on your level of cover. It is recommended that you check with your health fund for further information to see if you are eligible for a rebate and how to make a claim.
